Be sure you have followed the instructions of the mod author exactly for the specific preset you are trying to use. The presence or incorrect version of d3d11.dll is usually the culprit for this type of crashing. Other times, you have to manually remove or rename certain files to ensure they to not interfere with a preset.
Normally, you will have to manually ensure that all files required for an old preset have been removed before attempting to install a new one. Nor can you always simply uninstall or deactivate a preset to turn it off. You cannot always simply install a new preset "over the top" of an old one. If you have the wrong version of a core file for that specific preset, the program will not work as intended, resulting in corruption, crashing, low FPS, etc. Each "preset" uses a specific version of SweetFX core files to achieve its settings. It basically overrides each frame after its drawn by the game and uses shaders to alter things like the color palette, depth-of-field effect, ambient occlusion, lighting, shadow softness, etc., etc., etc. SweetFX is a wrapper for the game's graphics. DLL files that are not compatible with the preset(s) you've chosen. It could also be leftover files from one of the earlier installations of SweetFX. As I stated, it's probably being caused by either an incompatible file that SweetFX relies upon or a driver conflict with whatever version you currently have installed for your GPU.
